Van Gaal plans his new-look United

Van Gaal-new-look-United
Start over. That is Louis Van Gaal's plan to return Manchester United to where they should be: challenging for silverware.

The Dutchman has already shown that nobody is more important than the team, and the first thing he did was sell some of the club's most-veteran players. Patrice Evra (8 years), Rio Ferdinand (12 years) and Nemanja Vidic (8 years), who had spent 28 years at the English club between them, were the first three players to leave Old Trafford. Of the three, only Evra (€1.5m) brought any money into the club.

The next ones to leave could be Nani, Chicharito and one of the club's star signings last season, Marouane Fellaini, for whom United paid €35m.

United have hardly signed any players to replace these high profile departures. The club has only confirmed two new signings: Ander Herrera and 19-year-old Luke Shaw.

However, more will follow. Just as he did during his time as Barcelona boss, Van Gaal wants to surround himself with players he can trust, in other words Dutch players. United are currently negotiating for Daley Blind, Ron Vlaar and Kevin Strootman, three of his preferred players from the Dutch national team (Strootman missed out on a move to Real Madrid through injury).

These players could also be joined by other players that United have been interested in for quite a while: Arturo Vidal y Matt Hummels.
