Controversy is in store following the publication of the fixture list for the coming 'La Liga' season, with the first 'Clásico' scheduled for the weekend when Luis Suárez's ban expires, 25th-26th October. If the game takes place on the Saturday, the Uruguayan won't be able to play, but if it's held on the Sunday, he could make his Barça debut in the biggest of matches.
There is every reason to believe that Barcelona's blockbuster signing will end up getting his first taste of action at the Bernabéu. The 'Clásico' will be sandwiched between a round of Champions League fixtures (the week before) and Spanish Cup games (the week after), making it likely that the Real-Barça clash will be held on the Sunday, in which case Suárez would be eligible to take part. The reverse fixture, at the Camp Nou, is pencilled in for the weekend of 21st-22nd March (gameweek 28).
Fans won't have to wait long for the first Madrid derby of the campaign, which will be played three weeks into the season, with Atlético visiting the Bernabéu on the weekend of 14th September.
On the other hand, Barcelona and Atlético, who famously met on the last day of last season with Atleti sealing the title at the Camp Nou, are again due to lock horns late in the day. Their first encounter will come in gameweek 18, on the weekend of 11th January 2015, and they will face off again in the penultimate round of fixtures.
