TAS has cancelled the sanctions by CAF against Morocco, following his refusal to organize the 2015 CAN. Moroccans will play CAN 2017 and 2019, if they qualify.
The Morocco won its standoff against the African football Confederation. Prohibited by the FCA to attend CAN 2017 and 2019 for refusing to hold the competition this year due to the Ebola virus, the Atlas Lions have won Thursday to CAs. If they qualify, the Moroccans may well play the cup of Africa of Nations 2017, which the Organizer will be named Wednesday, and by 2019.
The Court of arbitration for sport ruled that 'the exclusion of the team from the next two editions of the CAN Morocco was not expressly provided for by the regulations in force at the time of the withdrawal of the Organization of the 2015 CAN and in any case, in the light of the circumstances of the case, was not proportionate to the fault of the FRMF (Moroccan Federation)'.
The fine divided by 20
suspension for 2017 and 2019 is therefore cancelled. As for the heavy fine imposed on Morocco ($1 million), it is reduced to $ 50 000. An amount that matches the maximum amount prescribed by the regulations of the CAF in force at the time of the facts according to the heap. The question of damages has, however, not been decided.
