Vice president of the FIFA, André Maria Villar met in the afternoon together with Josep Maria Bartomeu and Josu Urrutia the respective presidents of the FC Barcelona and Athletic Bilbao, to determine the place of the final of the Copa del Rey. FC Barcelona leaned over Mestalla (55 000) in Valence for its nearness, while Athletic opted for the stadium Benito Villamarin (52 500) in Séville, because distance is equal for both finalist trainings. So, both parties did not succeed in finding an agreement concerning the place, what allowed to add to the list during meeting, two new proposals: the Nou camp and San Mames.
It is therefore the board of directors of RFEF that finally had the last word and leaned in favour of the stadium of FC Barcelona. The Nou camp will be the arena in which the Catalans and Basques will argue title, on May 30th of this year.
